About Me

John Wells grew up in Groton, Massachusetts.  A hockey player by birth but was molded into skiing in Austria and Germany by the age of 7.  USA select 15's, 16's, 17's lured him to hockey scholarships and oppurtunities to play in Canada throughout highschool and parts of college.  Through College John skied at Jay Peak, VT and Mont Tremblant, Qc. bouncing through the best glades on earth, and learning how "to get big air" from the renowned canadian air force in the park scene.  Soon enough Whistler and the West coast came calling landing him at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in 2003.  A year at the the horse was enough to convince John to stay and eventually finding a home at Mt. Baker, WA.  Yearly assaults on Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker keep John busy through the spring months climbing and skiing.  A yearly trip down to Mt. Hood rounds out the summer keeping the park hits fresh, and the skills sharp.  Pre-season for John includes a trip to the east coast to water-ski in Maine and get ready for the season with 33 mph glass turns.

Currently at Mt. Baker ripping deep pow and big lines John has found new ways to explore the artistry of POV.  Expanding and innovating new ways to mount Go Pro Hero HD cams giving viewers a different view of the action.  Sponsored by Fatypus skis and Go Pro camera's John is always looking for the next new angle or edit.

Coffee, beer, cashews, gum, and gas - that’s all I need. That, and about 2.5 hours of sleep, and I’m set for opening day. The night before, all energies flow into one as I obsessively prepare for the sickest day of skiing ever. Straight-lining Crystal Bowl at Kicking Horse, and making GS pow tu...
