Description:
The 9th and last of the Nike Chosen Series proved to be a standout with the Norwegians displaying an incredibly high level of riding in this AM contest.
The perfectly shaped 15m Kicker, located on the same slope as last month’s World Snowboard Championship, gave the 37 rider’s ample chances to show the judges and watching public that Scandinavian riders can deliver the goods. Double corks, double flips, double Rodeos and countless Switch Backside spins proved to be the order of the day as riders were treated to glorious sunshine.
20-year-old Kristin Stubberud took Best Female with some well-held Stalefish and Tail grabs, Even Brekke from nearby Oslo claimed Best Style with a BS Rodeo 5 Indy, Backside 5 Shifty and a Frontside Corked 7 and with a host of tricks Jonas Steen took Most Creative with a Switch Backside 7, Backside Double Cork 12 and a Cab 10.

Nike Chosen Series - 08 Austri Nike Chosen Series - 08 Austria Hochkonig
- From: nike
-
Description:The shapers at the Kingspark in Hochkönig, Austria worked tirelessly to prepare the Chosen Series kicker after overnight snow threatened the 8th and penultimate stop of Nike Chosen Series. The 15m step-over style jump proved challenging to all the riders and their efforts were compounded with bad visibility from the start.A previous winner of Best Style from the German stop, Jonel Fricke, worked the mic to keep the riders and crowd stoked whilst retail partner Blue Tomato kept spirits up with warm snacks and drinks as the 24 riders braved the snow, cold and cross winds in a bid to take the MVP and a ticket to the Nike Chosen Sessions.Ultimately the weather ruled the comp and with Finals unable to take place riders were judged on their performance in the Qualis. Peter Walchhofer took Best Style following his inverted FS7 tailgrab, Most Creative went to Markus Bernhard by laying out a powder run to knuckle line, but handling the tough conditions by sticking everything with style and composure was Stephan Wimmer from Innsbruck - BS5s, 7s and 9s – who claimed MVP and booked his spot at The Nike Chosen Sessions in April.

- From: nike
-
Description:
The traditional French resort of Chatel, deep in the Porte Du Soleil set the arena for the 6th Stop on the Nike Chosen Series.
Together the town and the resort helped to create one of the best atmospheres seen so far on the Series, providing much welcome coffee and croissants in registration as the icy wind took temperatures down to -15, before laying on a free BBQ for all riders and spectators as the Finals got under way.
With Nike rider Gerome Mathieu judging and much of Chatel town watching, the 22 entered riders delivered a great show. The Nike team along with Head Shaper Alex Creuse created a15m kicker measuring 19m to sweet spot, guaranteeing both distance and height whilst giving the amateurs the confidence to try all their tricks as they battled it out for MVP.
Maxence Tevelle took Most Creative with a BS 180 Double Tailgrab, Handdrags on the Nike bonk and Frontflips off the knuckle. Romuald Bouche took Best Style with Switch Back 1s, 5s and 9s before adding a FS9 for good measure. 19-year-old Grenoble resident Marion Haerty took best Female with BS and FS 180s.
As the day of great vibes rolled out it was 18 year old French rider Enzo Nilo from Bidant who showed all round performance and consistency taking the Most Valuable Player (MVP) with FS5s, corked 7s both ways, a Switch Backside 9 and a FS10.
Celebrating his own 27th birthday on the day French Nike rider Gerome Mathieu presented the winning AM Enzo with his ticket to the Sessions Final in Austria, April 2012.

Description:
An extremely cold Ehrwald, Germany played host to the 5th Stop on the Nike Chosen Series. With temperatures dropping to -20C, the free-flowing Jam format came into its element as a steady succession of riders set upon the 15m table, including Evgeniy Joon Ivanov who had made the mammoth trip from Moscow, Russia. €2500 was also on offer for riders making the 10 man finals meaning the 35 signed up riders had even more to play for.
Local girl Nadine Hartinger from Munich took Best Female with her stylish nose grabs over the Nike bonk ball. Daniel Mosl, Most Creative with a huge Switch Frontside Air and Double Back Flip, leaving friend and nearby Innsbruck resident Jonel Fricke to take home Best Style with a beastly Backside 5 Chicken Salad and FS 7 melon.

On hand to welcome him as the next Am to join the Nike Chosen Sessions, Danny Kass, fresh from a recon trip to the Sessions Final location in Austria declared Felix the German champion and claimed that “He rode like a pro, now it’s time to ride with the pro’s”.

- From: nike
-
Description:
he fourth stop of the Nike Chosen Series were held in Hoch Ybrig in the foot hills of the Swiss Alps, and got underway despite being pushed back a day due to bad weather.
With only occasional breaks in the cloud, visibility gave the riders an added challenge over the 15m kicker and bonk obstacle, leaving the 3 judges (DBK, Raphi Rocha and local shaper Matthias Burch) to make a call to skip qualifiers and run a straight up final with all riders.
With a Nike Sessions ticket on the table all riders upped their game in what was a great atmosphere in the park, local Arvet Fuchs styled a Superman front flip and his first ever backside double cork and Roger Schuler held onto a switch back stale almost all the way to the ground.
Making the trip up from Berne, Markus Mathis took the MVP of the day with a consistent array of tricks throughout the jam including a back 10 double cork.
Markus will travel to the Nike Chosen Sessions in April to session with the Nike Pros and compete against all the Series winners to find ultimate Chosen.

Sidecountry Sessions Trailer B Sidecountry Sessions Trailer By Outdoor Research
- From: outdoorresearch102344

Description:
This winter, OR ambassadors Molly Baker, Zack Giffin and Neil Provo are subscribing to the gypsy life, taking off on a two-month tiny house road trip in celebration of a passion-driven, low impact, ski bum lifestyle.
“The opportunity to explore the accessible powder stashes with the most passionate locals is the mission," Provo said. "Getting it the best we can is our objective."
Over the next six weeks, the three OR ambassadors, along with videographers Sam Giffin and Andy Walbon will be road tripping to North America’s most respected sidecountry areas in search of deep powder and influential snow loving locals.
"We are refining the entire process of living as ski bums." Giffin said. "It is really about figuring out what you do and don’t need. For me, I want to ski and there isn’t much else that I need."
Unlike any previous skiing road trip, the Sidecountry Sessions crew is on a mission to find the best snow and greatest communities in prominent powder territory while living out of a ski bum’s dream-home-on-wheels. Along the way, the team will be on the search for the most esteemed, enthusiastic and talented individuals to bring on as members of OR’s Grassroots Athlete Team. Could you or one of your friends be the next team member?
Based on recommendations of local skiers via Facebook (no, you can’t nominate yourself), Molly, Zack and Neil will ski, climb and adventure with chosen nominees in order to select the newest members of OR’s athlete team."Being a part of Outdoor Research is really about being genuine with an honest devotion to a life in the mountains," Baker said. "It makes it really easy for the right people because they essentially continue doing whatever it is that they do and that embodies the mission of the company as a whole."
To nominate someone you know, post their photo to the Outdoor Research Facebook page. In the comments section, reference hash tag #SCSessions and include a brief description of why your person would be a great OR Athlete. If we come to their hill, Molly, Zack and Neil want to get in touch with them for a session of slaying pow.
Find out what it’s like to spend the season searching for new ski talent while living in 112 square feet of unconventional living space. Showcasing local talent, communities and mountains, watch video episodes of the Sidecountry Sessions releasing each week and find out what happens when these gypsy shredders occupy your parking lot.
The tiny house made its debut last weekend at Powder Magazine’s 40th Anniversary party in Sun Valley, Idaho. Stay tuned to outdoorresearch.com/scsessions and Facebook for the next Sidecountry Sessions destination. - 2 years ago
